Gorgeous scenery with lots of river views and some river access including swimming holes. Bring extra camera batteries. First half is an easy, flat dirt road behind a gate, narrowing to single track which is moderate and slightly dangerous on the steep leaf covered decent to Canyon Creek. You have to climb over a few trees across the trail on the second half, but if you've hiked that far you probably can do it. The hike is on public land, but there are a lot of mining claims, some of which are inhabited. The trail is well shaded and there were a few creeks. There are no restrooms and trail head parking just off 49 is limited. My GPS had an altitude error at the beginning, really only about 400' high to low.
