This hike begins at Mourne Poui Road in the village of Aripo, just outside of Arima. The initial part of this hike is a trek up to the ridge of the Aripo mountain. This is usually the most challenging part for most hikers. Beyond this the hike is very easy and mostly downhill into the valley.
The Hollis Reservoir is a man made lake that was built between 1934 and 1936, by governor Sir Claude Hollis, who governed Trinidad and Tobago from 1930 to 1936. The main source of the water supply comes from the Quare River. When this reservior is at full capacity it can supply 8.2 million gallons of water per day for the people of Arouca to Arima. The lake attracts a variety of birds and wildlife. Fishing ,hunting, and swimming is not permitted at the Reservior. The soothing ambiance and picturesque surrounding makes it one of the best places for a family picnic...

Very scenic but the trail was completely overgrown... The reservoir was quite nice though. A great spot for a picnic after a long hike...
