Description de l'itinéraire

This hike will take you around the top of Mt. Prevost, along the way you will get great views into the Cowichan Valley, to the Gulf Islands and on a clear day to Mt. Baker in Washington state. You will frequently see raptors sailing the thermals off of the cliffs and occasionally you will see bipeds leaping to what seems like certain death with parachutes strapped to their backs.

On the day of this fall hike, the clouds and mist had moved in and although the views offered were not great it was interesting to be on top of a mountain as the clouds passed through. I have attached some pics from a previous hike on a sunnier day to provide a sample of the views you will encounter.

The hike starts at the parking lot below the War Memorial. To drive there from the bottom of the hill, follow Mt. Prevost Rd. until it turns into a gravel road. The gravel road is called "Prevost ML" and as you drive along it be on the lookout for signs indicating "Monument" or "Memorial". Follow these signs to the parking lot. Active logging may be going on, drive with your headlights on and yield the right of way to logging trucks.

The Retreads Hiking Club gives this hike an AVA rating of 2 B.

It is just sitting there all by itself. It looks like a light push will send it off!

We saw mountain bikers here. Presumably this is the set off point for one of their trails down the mountain.
