In the main part of the Petrified Forest Park in Lesvos, a brief and esay path that touchs the biggest fossil rests of the vaste forest destroyed by eruptions and lahars during Miocene. The fossils remain on their own soil and belong to many ancient species like Sequoia, Cupressus, Palm. The landscape is dry and steppic. Is possible have a guide during the path asking to the Park entrance.
The Petrified Forest of Lesvos was one of the four foudator Geoparks in 2000.
