Swiss National Museum

Built around 1730 in a magnificent park above Lake Geneva, the castle of Prangins houses the Swiss National Museum, which is dedicated to modern, democratic and industrial Switzerland between 1730 and 1920. The permanent exhibitions take you to the century of Enlightenment, in particular “Noblesse oblige! Life at the château”, which shows the daily life of a noble family of the county of Vaud. The temporary collections focus on topics related to Swiss culture or current topics. Countless activities intended for groups and families bring these collections alive. The Swiss National Museum continues outdoors, featuring a cultural path “The Walk of Enlightenment” as well as a huge historical vegetable garden. The produce of the ancient varieties grown here can be tasted at the Café du Château. For private or professional events alike, the castle of Prangins offers three character rooms as well as a café and its magnificent terrace.

Its pink colour, and its windows with curtains represented as a trompe l’œil, attract the eyes of many passers-by. It is possible to organize at the Villa Rose business events such as seminars, meetings or end-of-year meals. The meeting room is the faithful replenishment of a 1944 soldier's home. This room is fully equipped and can host between 20 and 70 people.

It’s a hotel full of character, fully renovated, occupying a former dwelling built in the year 1400. Toblerone Trail

“Toblerone” is the name given to the anti-tank emplacements reminiscent of this specific Swiss chocolate bar. In addition to the anti-tank emplacements, the fortified line in the Nyon region includes small forts and secondary structures and is about ten kilometres long. Adjacent to the trail and the road, the Villa Rose is a former concealed military fort, which is now demilitarised. With its trompe-l’œil aspects, this is an entirely separate curiosity. In addition to these historical points of interest, the trail runs alongside a whole series of beautiful natural sites. And so that children can learn and have fun at the same time, there are two downloadable trail maps with games and historical anecdotes to enhance the walk.
