15 miles of glorious singletrack, one of my favorite trails. There is no real difference in elevation from the upper trailhead to the lower, but the trail does roll up and down a lot so don't think it's going to be a cakewalk. If you have the time and the energy I recommend an out-and-back, that way you get to enjoy all the descents. O & B usually takes me around 7 hours including breaks and photo ops, have done it in under 5 1/2 hours just stopping to eat, drink and check for ticks. There is a road to the north that could be used to make an easier loop or to drive a shuttle. Also, Missouri Bar Trail could open some options.
There is water at the South Yuba Camp and Trail at the LOWER TRAILHEAD but only in the summer months when the camp is open. There's no water at the UPPER TRAILHEAD.
Lot's of poison oak on this trail, mainly on the upper half. The upper half is also more technical and strenuous, the lower part between the campground and Humbug Creek is easier and more cruisy.
Trees have all been cleared away.
