From Ferry dock, we picked up a nicely detailed trail map from the Visitors Center.
We walked up the main and side streets until we came to the sign for the Red Trail (Trace de Pied de l'Etang).
The start was a hike over rocks, but not difficult. Just a climb up and up and up! Some lovely views of the islands.
At the top, it flattens out, and there are several small ponds you walk by. Pretty walk in the woods!
You reach the intersection of the yellow/blue/red paths. (This took approx. 40 min.)
We went left to head toward Petites Anses.
Eventually, you reach the road (D213). We took a right to head to town. (This was... happily... all down hill!)
We continued through town to find and explore the the beaches of Anse à Dos and Petite Anse... To the beaches it is all down hill... thus all up-hill on the return.
We then stopped for lunch.
Afterward, we continued through town... and on the road back to the Port (main road D213) made side trips to the ruins of the Fidelin Pottery Production Buildings and the beach of Grande Baie.
Great day! Nice way to explore the island!
